A Little Miracle Two and a Half Years in the Making

A little Davis baby should be making its appearance sometime around May 21, 2010! According to both granddads, we just needed to be back on North Carolina soil for everything to fall into place. We are excited, yet were it not for feeling terrible, I still might not believe it! The ultrasound is from a couple of weeks ago. I got to hear the heart beat again this week, so it's true! We're pregnant!

The Day We Thought Would Never Get Here

is approaching all too quickly! For those who didn't receive one in the mail, here is Evan's graduation announcement. He had a very busy week finishing his poster and taking all of this exams early. Right now he is in New Orleans presenting his poster at the ASBMB and Experimental Biology 2009 Conference. Wish him luck! He returns late the night before/early the morning of his graduation. He has worked hard over the last four years, and I am very proud of him!
So now, everyone is wondering what's next? We are leaving Provo on May 30th. Then we are heading to Washington and Oregon to visit Evan's mission. We're also making a few stops in Northern California before making the long drive back to North Carolina! My mom and dad are so generously allowing us to stay at their house, aka The Antley Hotel, until Evan gets a job, and we decide where we're going to be more permanently. It's been great living in Utah, and we will miss our family here, but we are definitely looking forward to going "home" and spending time with the rest of our family.

Birthday Weekend!

I turned another year older, and we celebrated through the weekend! Saturday, Karissa, Evan, and I went to see "Coraline." I saw the preview for this movie and thought it looked quite interesting. Then, I remembered that I actually have two copies of the book in my class which I have always meant to read. Amazingly enough, while Evan and I were at Universal Studios this past Christmas, we saw a scene display which was used in the movie. I became more excited. So, I decided to read "Coraline" with my class. Eventually, we used the book as inspiration to decorate our door for the Read-a-Thon. Needless to say, I was giddy with anticipation. Evan and Karissa were good sports to come along with me to the early bird showing. The movie was in 3-D thus the rockin' glasses.

After the movie, Karissa and I continued on to Coldstone for some ever-delicious ice-cream and ended up spending the rest of the day together. We went grocery shopping, ate Mac and Cheese with Evan and Devin, and even convinced them to watch Step 2 with us. Even though we live in the same town, we don't get to spend enough time together. It was great to catch up. Thanks Deloziers!
On Sunday, Evan's sisters and their families came over to our house for a family dinner and to celebrate my birthday. I made Turtle Cake by myself, for the first time. Since we haven't celebrated any holidays with my family in a while, I was missing it. It didn't turn out quite like it was supposed to, but it still tasted good. :)

The birthday hat was another purchase from our Disneyland trip and has now become a new Davis family tradition. Lucky me, I was the first to get to wear it. It's also been a while since I've had so many people singing "Happy Birthday" to me! It was especially fun because Avery and Aidan were so excited. Thank Smiths and Youngbergs!

Happy Birthday, Evan!!

Evan was born on Thanksgiving Day 1983. Because of this fact, his mom calls him a turkey, and says they should have named him Tom Turkey. We're glad they didn't! :) It just so happened that his first birthday after we were married was on Thanksgiving again. Our apartment was being remodeled at the time, so my Uncle David and Aunt Emily let us stay at their house over Thanksgiving Break while they were out of town. Because of the circumstances, Evan didn't have an official birthday cake. So, we added candles to the Pumpkin Nutella Pie and, of course, candy. Evan LOVES candy!!

This year, Evan's birthday is the Monday before Thanksgiving. And as tradition has it, we have a yummy Baskin Robbins Rocky Road ice-cream cake waiting for him. Unfortunately, we don't many pictures of Evan. He is a much better photographer than I and is usually the one behind the camera. This is a self-portrait in Temple Square when my parents visited last month. Happy Birthday, Evan! I love you!!

Announcing Our New Blog!

After countless hours of amusing myself by reading other people's blogs, I have finally decided to take the plunge! My main objective is to keep my family, who is mostly thousands of miles away, updated on the excitement here in Provo. I hope the rest of you will enjoy it as well. I promise to keep it as intriguing as possible and am hoping you will promise to leave me smile-worthy comments!
